The University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) was established in 1996. The University is registered in the Australian University category in the National Register of Higher Education Providers, meaning USC complies with the Higher Education Standards for Australian universities, made under Australia’s Tertiary Education Quality and Standards.
USC is one of Australia’s fastest growing universities, serving an extensive region from Moreton Bay to the Fraser Coast. When the University opened its first campus on the Sunshine Coast in 1996 with 500 students, it was the first greenfield public university to be established nationally since the early 1970s.
Students benefit from friendly and supportive environments, access to highly-qualified teaching staff, personal attention, and modern technology and facilities. Study choices are wide, and degrees are complemented by opportunities to gain practical experience and travel overseas. USC’s researchers collaborate with local, national and international governments, institutions and industries to deliver innovative, high-quality research with real impact.

USC offers convenient study locations including Fraser Coast, Gympie, SouthBank (Brisbane), Caboolture and a research facility on the world-heritage-listed Fraser Island. USC Moreton Bay will open in 2020, offering the first full-scale university campus for the region. USC’s first and largest campus at the Sunshine Coast features modern, distinctive architecture and environmentally sensitive design. It has been recognised with more than 30 awards in planning, architecture and construction, and was the first university in Australia to gain full EnviroDevelopment accreditation from the Urban Development Institute of Australia.
USC offers flexible study options at a network of teaching locations between Brisbane and the Fraser Coast. Many programs include courses that can be completed at any campus, and some are available through off-campus study hubs. This means you’ll have the flexibility to choose a study location that works for you. Some programs let you complete your first year closer to home, then transition to another campus to finish your degree.
